Eyebrow Threading: The Quick Route to Perfect Arches

by Editor on March 18, 2009

I don’t know about you, but when I watch female movie stars parading their stuff on the big screen, I always marvel at their perfectly defined eyebrows. One of the lowest points of my typical week is trying to find time to coerce my brown but prominent prospective mono-brow into some kind of womanly shape.

Tweezing is especially hard, particularly if you sit too close to your mirror. Your brows might look perfect close up, but when you step back a little way, you find that you actually have one brow slightly higher than the other, as if asking “why?” Waxing is much more accurate, but oh how it stings. Those little wax strips were probably used in a previous life as a form of medieval torture.

So, what is the alternative?

Well, unless you want a shaggy, manly, mono-brow, eyebrow threading offers an excellent and longer lasting alternative to the less accurate and more painful options. Threading is an Indian hair removal technique in which the aesthetician essentially bundles eyebrow hair together using cotton, and then pulls out the whole cluster at once.  I would have thought that such a skilled, precise procedure would have cost a small fortune in a beauty salon, so imagine my surprise when I saw it being performed at my local shopping mall! My children and I watched in amazement, as a dark-haired beauty became an even-more-stunning Goddess with perfect eyebrows in a matter of minutes.

Why Choose Eyebrow Threading?

Long-lasting Treatment – If you are a busy working mom like me, you probably do not have the time or the energy to be continually getting your eyebrows fixed. The good news is that eyebrow threading lasts around three weeks, which is longer than tweezing or waxing.

Precision – Eyebrow threading removes unwanted hair by gathering it up in a tightly wound, double-coiled string. The aesthetician swiftly removes hair in a perfectly straight line, meaning that your brow shape will be more definite and striking. Particularly if you have dark hair, this precision is exceptionally important.

Easier On The Skin – Though the procedure doesn’t sound much more pleasant than either tweezing or waxing, it is actually far less painful and doesn’t leave your skin so tender afterwards. If you have especially sensitive skin, or you use Accutane or Retin-A, eyebrow threading comes highly recommended and will cause you no adverse effects.

Cost – Many moms, me included feel a horrible sense of guilt at spending hard-earned money on matters of vanity. The good news is that eyebrow threading is available at Indian beauty stores or at your local mall for around $12 on average. That isn’t bad considering you only need to have it done once a month or so.

It’s quick – If you are worried about entertaining your young entourage whilst you have your eyebrows threaded, the procedure takes next to no time. The aestheticians are so skilled that they can provide you with a better result in minutes than you get with half an hour with your tweezers.

Eyebrow threading has been a really positive eye-opener for me, and many other moms who are short on time and strapped for cash. If you have been struggling to achieve the perfect arches until now, give it a go, and prepare to be amazed!
