Monday’s Pretty Inspiration ~ Over-40 Never Looked So Good!

by Lynn on March 8, 2010

Okay, I rarely watch the Oscars, or any other award shows for that matter. I’m just not that into them.

But, last night, for some reason, I decided to tune into the Oscars. And, although I hadn’t seen any of the movies nominated this year, with the exception of Up {I know…shame on me}. I did think the show was pretty good. And, I enjoyed seeing so many women age gracefully {some perhaps with the help of a dermatologist here and a plastic surgeon there}.

Nevertheless, I decided to link to a People.com’s Photo Special called Oscars Over-40 Beauties.

For me, though, the significance doesn’t lie in the external beauty of these women: the inspiration should lie in their accomplishments.

I especially feel this way about Kathryn Bigelow’s win for Hurt Locker. Kathryn is the first woman ever to win an Oscar for Best Director. Hurt Locker also won for Best Picture, beating Avatar, which was directed by her ex-husband, James Cameron.

Kathryn Bigelow, Mo’nique, Sandra Bullock, and all the other women in the Photo Special are beautiful examples of women over 40 pursuing passionate lives.
