Over the past few years, nail companies like OPI, Zoya, and Essie have emerged as leaders with their innovative colors and, in some cases, greener versions of nail colors. Their latest foray includes covering the nail beds of well-manicured ladies in matte colors.

While OPI and Zoya have created fantastic matte colors, there are a few downers to wearing matte nail finishes:

• They are not intended to be worn with a base coat, top coat or speed dryer.
• The color is not as long-wearing as traditional nail color.
• Placing matte colors on completely clean, dry, nail surfaces yields the best result.
• And, OPI encourages you to not to put lotion on your hands when wearing their matte colors.

What a bummer! As a mom, you would think wearing matte colors would be more annoying than anything.
